After a lot of anticipation and after a lot of hard work, the new “Fordingbridge Avon Valley Shed” is fully constructed and ready to open. Its open day took place last Wednesday, 16th September, with a fully blown lunch, with most of its members (nearly 40) attending. There was an abundance of guests, including Peter White, the mayor, representatives of the Town Council, and two founder members (Malcolm Connolly and Gary Knight). Thanks were given to all the personnel and organisations who helped the AVS in its formation, including the Sports Club, the founders, The Churches (St Mary’s and the Methodist Chapel), Avon Valley Community Matters, the Green Gram, Fordingbridge Rotary, the Co-op Community Fund and the Town Council.
All the various interest groups were represented, including the music, photography, electrical, genealogy, computer and “Community engagement” sections. If any of these groups interest you, do come along one Wednesday morning at 09.30 to the Rec in the Sports Field, by the river, in Fordingbridge.
The weather was onside, and it turned out to be a wonderful day: thanks go to all the “core members” for their efforts. For further details, do contact Derek Ayling on publicity on 07798 555511.
