Killing Eve Star in National Theatre Live Screening

Award-winning actor Sandra Oh stars in the National Theatre Live screening of The Misanthrope at Theatre Royal Winchester on Tuesday 13 October.

The Misanthrope tells of a brilliant novelist, Alice, who despises the carefully constructed lies of modern society but discovers that telling the truth isn’t always that simple. The more she challenges those around her, the fiercer the backlash becomes, and she must confront the price of speaking her truth in a world that would rather silence her.

Killing Eve and Grey’s Anatomy star Sandra Oh leads the cast in the title role, with Paul Chahidi (This Country), Tom Mison (Sweeney Todd), and Abigail Cruttenden (Not Going Out).

The Misanthrope is British playwright Martin Crimp’s razor-sharp reimagining of French playwright and actor Molière’s classic dark comedy. Crimp is known for his innovative and experimental approach to theatre; Molière is known for his sharp social satire.

The Misanthrope is directed by Indhu Rubasingham – Director of the National Theatre since spring 2025, previously Artistic Director of the Kiln Theatre (2012 – 2023) – where she championed unheard voices with a bold programme.

The production was filmed live at the National Theatre; the screening has a 15 certification.

National Theatre Live: The Misanthrope will be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Tuesday 13 October at 7 pm. Film rating: 15. For more information or to book tickets, visit theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
