Wimborne Minster Town Council is delighted to announce the re-election of Councillor Jeff Hart as Mayor of Wimborne Minster for the 2026/27 civic year
The Mayor Making Ceremony took place on Tuesday, 9 June 2026 in the historic Council Chamber at Wimborne Minster Town Hall, attended by councillors, family, friends, and members of the local community.
The evening marked the beginning of a new civic year and celebrated Cllr Hart’s continued dedication to serving the town. Re-elected for a third term as Mayor, he thanked colleagues, residents and supporters for their encouragement and confidence, and spoke of his enthusiasm for the year ahead.
Adding to the sense of occasion, the Wimborne Militia were in attendance, bringing a touch of tradition and reflecting the town’s rich history and strong civic pride.
The ceremony also saw the appointment of Councillor Lauren Hector as Deputy Town Mayor. Cllr Hector will support the Mayor throughout the coming year and work alongside fellow councillors to champion local initiatives and community projects.
Speaking following his re-election, Cllr Hart said: “It is a great honour and privilege to be re-elected as Mayor of Wimborne Minster for a third time. I am incredibly grateful for the support I have received and look forward to continuing to represent our wonderful town, supporting local charities, and celebrating all that makes Wimborne such a special place. I am also delighted that Cllr Lauren Hector will be serving as Deputy Mayor, and I look forward to working closely with her during the coming year.”
During the ceremony, recognition was also given to the success of the Mayor’s charitable fundraising during the 2025/26 civic year. Through the generosity of residents, local businesses, and community organisations, more than £10,000 was raised in support of the Mayor’s chosen charities, Millstream Theatre for the Disabled and Dorset Community Action’s Young People’s Service.
Cllr Hart expressed his sincere thanks to everyone who supported the fundraising efforts throughout the year, describing the achievement as a reflection of the kindness and community spirit that exists across Wimborne Minster.
As part of the ceremony, the Mayor announced his chosen charities for the 2026/27 civic year: Lewis-Manning Hospice Care and Waggy Tails Rescue, both of which will benefit from fundraising activities and support throughout the coming year.
Mayor Making is one of the most important events in Wimborne Minster’s civic calendar, formally welcoming the new mayoral year while celebrating the community spirit, service and commitment that help make the town such a vibrant place to live and work.
