Make sure you’re in or near Wimborne between Saturday, the 11th of October and Saturday, the 18th of October! Because that’s when this year’s Planet Wimborne Green Festival is back in town, and you won’t want to miss this week of fantastic events and activities for all ages.
As in previous years, this celebration of all things green and environmentally-friendly will bring together community groups, local organisations and businesses, churches and schools to put on a varied programme to inspire and equip us all to live more sustainably and take better care of our precious and fragile planet.
The 2025 theme is ‘Buy Better, Be More’ and headlining the Festival at its finale event will be Patrick Grant from the BBC’s hit series, The Great British Sewing Bee. A successful fashion designer with bespoke tailoring and ethical clothing businesses, as well as a TV personality and author, Patrick will be speaking at Queen Elizabeth School in Wimborne on Saturday 18th October, with a focus on buying less and better – and being happier in the process.
Activities during the week include creative workshops, a visit to Lush’s green Hub, a sustainable food tour around some of Wimborne’s restaurants, a children’s poster competition, film night, climate café, inspiring nature walks and talks – and a whole lot more.
Paralympic gold-medal-winning canoeist Jack Eyers will be at the official opening of the Festival on Saturday, 11th October at 10.30 am on the Minster Green. Launching proceedings with him will be Wimborne’s deputy mayor, Councillor Simon Wheeler, accompanied by town crier Chris Brown and Planet Wimborne Chair, Linda Bunting.
