Author Talks: Lucy Brazier- The Honesty Box
Lucy Brazier, author of The Honesty Box, talks about midlife and everything it raises through the prism of food. From fighting against the midlife clichés to how her husband’s mental health, her own menopause and the kids leaving home created the perfect storm.
Lucy lives on the Dorset Coast and swims in the sea most mornings (and tries not to go on about it!) and believes in the power of wild swimming to build friendships, resilience and courage for everyday living. Lucy is also on a personal campaign to encourage more honesty boxes!
“A truly beautiful, magical book – I urge you to give it to anyone having a midlife wobble because Lucy is unashamed about showing her vulnerability and what it is to be human, a woman, a wife and a mum in the 21st century. Heart-breaking and heart-warming, but the ultimate message is one of hope: never give up on the one you love.” Veronica Henry

Soundcellar & Swanage Jazz Festival presents Nicolas Meier and Alex Hutton Duo
An evening of world jazz with guitarist Nicolas Meier and pianist Alex HuttonUK-based guitarist Nicolas Meier has carved out a reputation as one of the world’s most original and uniquely talented guitarists.
Drawing from a love of Turkish, Eastern & Middle Eastern music, Flamenco, Tango, and more—all mixed with jazz—Meier’s versatility and musical fluency extend well beyond that, even. (… so much so that his considerable talents drew the attention of rock guitar legend Jeff Beck, who made Nicolas a mainstay in The Jeff Beck Group, taking him on two world tours over the last several years.)
Nicolas has released numerous albums under his own name and, in addition to touring with Jeff Beck, has worked with internationally renowned musicians such as Vinnie Colaiuta, Tim Garland, Gary Husband, Dave O’Higgins, and many others. In addition to this, in 2022, he toured Europe with his group, supporting rock guitar icon Steve Vai.
Pianist Alex Hutton is one of the UK Jazz’s hidden treasures. A fine composer, with an ear for folk and classical influences, he is a gifted, thoughtful improviser and a mainstay of the London Jazz scene who has worked with the leading figures from Jim Mullen and Pete King to Pete Wareham. Hutton’s own albums have been noted for a move away from conventional piano trio music, with a search for fresh approaches to the song form and an emphasis on capturing a broad spectrum of textures.
