West Moors Dementia Action Group

Here are 2 ways to stay safe if you have memory problems.

Carry an Alzheimer’s Society Helpcard

Helpcards can make it easier for the person to get support when they’re out in the community. They can be obtained free from the Alzheimer’s Society. The size of a credit card, the person can write their name and what they need support with on the card. They can also include an emergency contact number. Complete a form called the Herbert Protocol, which is teamed with MedicAlert.

The form provides the police and other emergency services with essential information about the person with dementia if they go missing. Completed in advance, a copy is kept online and/or at your home. More information: herbertprotocol.com/
