A £500 donation from the Barchester Charitable Foundation is helping Access Dorset create even more opportunities for people in the local community to come together.
The donation has been used to purchase a new pizza oven and coffee machine, which will be used during activities and events at Access Dorset, helping to create welcoming opportunities for people to socialise, develop skills and enjoy time together.
The cheque was presented by representatives from three local Barchester care homes – Kate Carroll from Moors Manor, Michelle Venn from Parley Place and Jennifer Ettimari from Kings Park Care Home in Ferndown.
Access Dorset is supported by a team of five staff members, 15 regular volunteers and five trustees. Together, they provide activities, services, support and skills development for disabled people, older adults, neurodivergent people and their carers.
The organisation’s work is focused on improving wellbeing, building resilience and helping people to participate more fully in community life.
The new pizza oven will provide an opportunity for people to get involved in preparing and sharing food together, while the coffee machine will help create a relaxed space for conversation and connection.
Jayne, CEO of Access Dorset, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the Barchester Charitable Foundation for this generous support. The donation has enabled us to purchase a pizza oven and coffee machine, both of which will be put to great use. It is wonderful to have the support of local organisations that understand how important community, connection and inclusion are. We are very grateful for their support.”
The Barchester Charitable Foundation provides grants to help smaller community groups and charities make a positive difference to the lives of older people and other people living with disabilities.
The donation also reflects the commitment of Barchester’s local care homes to working alongside community organisations and supporting initiatives that make a difference to local people.
