Linda MacDonald is the author of five novels: Meeting Lydia, A Meeting of a Different Kind, The Alone Alternative, The Man in the Needlecord Jacket and The Tango Chain. After studying psychology at Goldsmiths’ London, Linda taught secondary science and biology for several years, later moving to a sixth-form college to teach psychology. She was born and brought up in Cockermouth, Cumbria. She now lives in Weymouth with her husband and dog.
On her latest novel, Linda explains: “When a friend invited me to an Argentine tango milonga, and I observed the possibility for intrigues, I was reminded of the Austrian play, La Ronde, which contains ten interconnected liaisons, each character appearing in two scenes, linking to the next person in a ‘round dance’ of secret sexual relationships. Inspired to read up on the history of the Argentine tango and its potential for passionate encounters, I realised I could create something of a small tango chain with three of my existing characters. Added to that, I am a fan of Strictly Come Dancing and the Argentine tango is one of my favourite dances!”
