Local Families Enjoy Memorable Farm Visit Thanks to Community Generosity

Fifteen local families, including 19 children supported by Romsey Family Support Group, recently enjoyed a memorable visit to City Farm in Southampton thanks to the generous support of the Romsey Mother’s Union.

The funding provided by the Romsey Mother’s Union enabled the charity to organise two visits, ensuring that every family had the opportunity to experience a fun and educational day out.

Children delighted in meeting a variety of animals, feeding the goats, and seeing ducks, chickens, pigs, a tortoise, guinea pigs and many others. The farm’s popular play area also proved to be a favourite, providing hours of enjoyment throughout the visits. Romsey Family Support Group also expressed its gratitude to the team at City Farm, a charitable organisation, for providing such a warm, welcoming and accommodating experience for the families.

The charity supports vulnerable families across the local community who are facing a range of challenges, including poor mental health, domestic abuse, financial hardship and parenting difficulties. For many of the children it supports, opportunities such as visiting a farm would not be possible without the generosity of local organisations and community supporters.

Romsey Family Support Group paid particular tribute to the Romsey Mother’s Union, which has supported its work for many years, and especially to Jane, who has been a longstanding point of contact and joined one of the visits to see first-hand the positive impact the experience had on the children and their families.

The charity said the smiles, laughter and lasting memories created over the two days were made possible through the kindness and community spirit shown by the Romsey Mother’s Union. Its generosity has made a meaningful difference to the families supported by the charity and highlights the important role local organisations continue to play in strengthening the community.
