The annual Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service took place in Wimborne Minster on Sunday 9 November, bringing together residents, community groups, and visitors to honour those who have served and sacrificed for their country. The parade, led by the Town Mayor of Wimborne Minster, Cllr Jeff Hart, featured the Wessex Marching Band, with buglers from the Wimborne Quarterjacks Marching Band delivering a moving performance of the Last Post and Reveille.
The event was organised jointly by Wimborne Minster Town Council, the Wimborne Branch of the Royal British Legion, and Wimborne Minster Church.
A sincere thank you is extended to everyone who took part, attended, and supported the event — including the standard bearers, youth organisations, uniformed groups, Scouts, Guides, and the Mayor’s Scout and Guide, along with all those who helped to ensure the smooth running of the parade. Special appreciation is given to the 280 NATO Signal Squadron, who travelled from their barracks in Stafford to take part in the day’s commemorations.
The Town Council also wishes to thank the local community for turning out in such great numbers and for their patience during the temporary road closures that allowed the parade to proceed safely through the town.
The service was attended by a number of key dignitaries, including:
Vice Lord Lieutenant of Dorset, The Hon Charlotte Townshend, High Sheriff of Dorset, Callum Bremner, Police and Crime Commissioner, David Sidwick, Vikki Slade, MP for Mid Dorset & North Poole & Sir William Hanham
Town Mayor, Cllr Jeff Hart said: “It was wonderful to see so many people come together to pay their respects. My thanks go to all who helped make this year’s Remembrance Parade and Service such a dignified and memorable occasion.”
We will remember them.
