Weymouth – Mayor’s Message – October 2025

Here we are in October and as we settle into the autumn months, I am looking forward to all the exciting events that are still to come this year. Weymouth really does have a lot to offer all year round.

Two of Weymouth’s most unique events take place in October, as Pirate Weekend and Zombie Week come to town! From Friday 3rd – Sunday 5th October, there will be a variety of pirate-themed events across the area, with plenty of fantastic costumes on show. During half term, zombies, ghouls and witches will be featuring in Weymouth’s zombie week! You can expect to see a zombie parade and more fun and games from 25th October – 1st November.

And one of Weymouth’s most popular and high-octane events also takes place this month, as Weymouth Beach Motocross returns to the sands on Sunday 12th October. This event is a huge draw for both locals and visitors, with crowds gathering to watch the excitement unfold, as the riders skilfully race around the course. Whether you are a fan of motorsport, or looking to watch for the first time, beach motocross is not one to miss.

Any voluntary, community groups, or community-minded individuals are invited to attend Weymouth Town Council’s final networking event of 2025. It takes place Tuesday on 14th October between10.15am and 1pm at The New Town Hall on Commercial Road. These events are a wonderful opportunity for local groups to come together, share resources, raise awareness and learn from each other. This time, groups will be invited to give their ideas on future networking events and share their views on what they would like to see in the programme for next year.

On Sunday 19th October at 9am, runners will set off along the seafront for the annual Weymouth 10-mile race. Come along and cheer on the competitors as they take on the route from the Pavilion end of the Esplanade, towards Bowleaze and back again.

After a successful Summer Games event back in August, Tumbledown plays host to a fantastic Food and Music Festival on 30th October, and there are plenty of pumpkins waiting to be carved! Autumn is a wonderful time to be outdoors and enjoying all that nature can bring, so come along to Tumbledown during the October half term to have fun at this music and food-themed event. Keep an eye on Weymouth Town Council’s social media for more details.

Looking ahead, we will see the return of Weymouth’s Bonfire and Firework Night on Wednesday 5th November, and the Remembrance Sunday service and parade on Sunday 9th November. In the meantime, have a great October!
