A single mother in Basingstoke, who had to lift her autistic son into a high-sided bathtub every day, now has a safer, more accessible bathroom thanks to the donated labour of a Dorset-based home improvement CIC.
The WHI Foundation, a community interest company attached to Weymouth Home Improvements, based in Weymouth, carried out the labour free of charge as part of its first-ever community project. The team removed the outdated bath and installed a walk-in shower, making daily life significantly easier and safer for the family.
“This wasn’t just a bathroom renovation—it was about reducing daily hardship for a mother doing everything alone,” said Luke Bell, founder of the WHI Foundation and Weymouth Home Improvements. “We wanted to use our skills to make a difference, and this was just the beginning.”
