Fans of ballroom dance and the ever-popular Strictly Come Dancing should enjoy the elegant yet bold, classic yet daring, Breaking Ballroom, which takes to the stage at Theatre Royal Winchester on Friday 11 September.
Breaking Ballroom celebrates where ballroom dance has been but also where it can go, and tells a story of glamour, connection, passion, and rebellion. It blends the refined elegance of ballroom dance and classical technique with bold theatrical flair, daring lifts, athleticism, and raw, emotionally charged movement; tradition with innovation; and precision with risk. By bending the rules of ballroom, the dancers put on an unforgettable performance.
Breaking Ballroom is presented by Strictly Theatre Co. – a dance production company that was founded in 2015 and works with the very best Ballroom and Latin dancers, choreographers, directors and lighting directors. It has produced a wealth of high-quality theatre shows including The Ballroom Boys – featuring former Strictly dancer, Ian Waite; Burn The Floor: The Reunion – with a host of Strictly favouries including Aljaž Škorjanec, Kai Widdrington, and Karen Hauer; and Vincent Simone: Tango Passions – shows, which have delighted the masses – over half a million audience members, in fact! Strictly Theatre Co. also produced Timeless Voices of Jazz, which was at the theatre in July.
Now the company presents Breaking Ballroom – for the devoted dance fan, plus anyone looking for a world-class evening of entertainment. It’s time to take the floor!
Breaking Ballroom will be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Friday 11 September at 7.30pm. For more information, visit theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
