Knoll Gardens Events Programme: Your Gateway to Wildlife and Well-Being

The health benefits of spending time in a garden are well documented, and this year Knoll Gardens is keen to encourage visitors to come along and be nurtured by nature by joining in an event or open day, as featured in their new programme for 2026.

With beautiful grasses and perennials as the backdrop, why not clear your mind and re-energise your body with weekly garden yoga sessions led by professional instructors?

Learning is a great way to channel the mind, and Neil’s popular Grass Masterclasses provide an insight into naturalistic gardening with ornamental grasses, through his own stunning plantings at Knoll. Open to both professional and everyday gardeners, the classes offer a fantastic opportunity to learn, not just directly from Knoll Gardens Director and ornamental grass expert Neil Lucas, but also from others on the course.

Knoll Gardens Foundation (KGF) are hosting a series of seasonal, naturalistic and nature-friendly garden workshops at Knoll, the first being on Monday 27 April. Spaces are limited on these fascinating sessions, which explore the naturalistic approach to gardening at Knoll and the wonderful array of wildlife that it encourages. Led by Neil Lucas, Foundation Chair and Bumblebee Surveyor Rowena Jecock, and Mitch Perkins KGF Wildlife Survey Coordinator, these garden-based sessions offer the perfect opportunity to discover how to garden both sustainably and with wildlife in mind.

Knoll Gardens is also delighted to be partnering with the National Gardens Scheme (NGS) again and hosting their annual NGS Day on 18 September, with garden entry admission fees going to the NGS, which benefits nursing and health charities. There is also a special NGS Garden Tour event on Tuesday, 1 September. In addition to these events, Neil Lucas will also be speaking as part of the NGS’s Garden Lecture Series at the Museum of East Dorset in Wimborne on the evening of Friday 11 September.

Learning about new, sustainable gardening methods and discovering the wildlife our gardens can attract through naturalistic plantings, we can both nurture nature and, in turn, be nurtured by nature – all wonderful ways to boost mental and physical health. The beautiful and very peaceful gardens at Knoll offer the perfect setting to do this, so just come along to a class, workshop or open day, and take a little time out in nature.
