Weymouth Station has long served as a key gateway for both residents and visitors to the town. Now, in addition to its important role in transport, it stands as a vibrant showcase of local creativity and community spirit.
As we mark 200 years since the invention of the modern railway system, Weymouth Station is joining the celebration with a special exhibition at the pop-up museum, running until 5th November. This display offers visitors a fascinating look back at the history of rail travel and its impact on the town and beyond.
But there’s more to the station than history. A closer look reveals a space enriched with colour, art, and care. The station grounds are lovingly maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers who work alongside station staff, creating a welcoming environment for all who pass through.
Adding to this atmosphere is a growing collection of public art. The most recent addition comes from local artist Silvia Pineda, whose distinctive style and interpretations of Weymouth bring a unique vibrancy to the station. Her work joins other creative pieces, including a collaborative installation commissioned by We Are Weymouth and created by Level 3 students from Weymouth College.
Whether you’re catching a train or just passing by, your next visit to Weymouth Station will be met with more than just departures and arrivals; you’ll find a space that reflects the artistic energy and community pride of the town.
