Bournemouth Town Centre is once again bursting with colour thanks to the return of the popular summer flower displays, funded and installed by the Bournemouth Town Centre BID.
Now in its third year of providing the displays, and its second year taking on their full maintenance, the Bournemouth Town Centre BID has stepped in to continue the much-loved scheme after the BCP Council ceased funding, following budget cuts and the closure of Kings Park Nursery.
The vibrant hanging baskets and pedestal planters can now be seen throughout the town centre, including key locations such as Westover Road, Old Christchurch Road, Post Office Road, The Square, The Triangle, and Poole Hill. With over 100 hanging baskets and 20 pedestals installed until the end of summer.
Ian Saul, Town Centre BID Board member & owner of Naked Coffee, said: “Many people told us how much they value the flower displays, and we felt it was important to make sure they didn’t disappear from the town centre. The displays help brighten up our streets, create a welcoming environment, and support the appeal of Bournemouth as a great place to visit, shop, and spend time. As with many of our projects, this is about enhancing the town centre experience for everyone – residents, visitors, and businesses alike.”
The floral displays are part of the Bournemouth Town Centre BID’s wider work to support the town centre’s appearance and atmosphere, alongside initiatives such as street cleaning and graffiti removal, Town Rangers, and free events – including the Summer Streets programme of family fun.
