Truck drama on Ringwood High Street shocks onlookers

Ringwood High Street was disrupted last Saturday morning, but for a good reason: members of the Ringwood Carnival team were pulling a huge truck down the street, to cause a stir as part of their ‘JOIN THE PROCESSION’ campaign. Although a 10-ton unit, they made light work of pulling the truck, kindly supplied by Elvy International Marine Heavy Haulage.

Carnival Chairman said, “The truck pull went a bit too well! We anticipated it would take around four minutes, however, the team did the 200-metre stretch in less than 60 seconds. However, the sentiment of the stunt is to raise awareness and encourage involvement in our Carnival parades later in the year.”

Ringwood Carnival takes place annually on the third Saturday in September, this year on the 20th September – with two processions; one afternoon parade at 2 pm, and an illuminated procession at sundown, starting at 7:15 pm.

The Carnival team is raising awareness and encouraging people to join in and take part in the Carnival in either procession, but particularly in the evening illuminated parade. It’s FREE to enter and with up to £500.00 prize money for the best in show for participants’ chosen charity or good cause, it is a great way to have fun for clubs, groups, schools, sports teams, charities, or businesses. With up to 10,000 onlookers throughout the day, it’s a great way to take part in something special, promote your club or business, have a fun time, and be part of this enjoyable spectacle – the biggest event on the Ringwood town calendar.

With a full guide, containing ‘tricks & tips,’ together with risk assessment templates and insurance guides on the Carnival website, entering is made simple via the interactive form. But that’s not all. If advice, guidance, or contacts are needed, the Carnival team can provide assistance.

So why not get your big truck, dress it up, think of a fun theme, and run it through Ringwood on Carnival day?
