Romsey Ramblers February 2025

Despite the wintry weather, Romsey Ramblers continue to provide a varied programme of walks for its members and others who may be thinking of taking up walking. Recent walks at Farley Mount, Broughton, the New Forest, Hurstbourne Tarrant and Stockbridge have varied in distances from 5 to 10 miles and were typically across the rural countryside, taking advantage of the great network of public Rights of Way across Hampshire and adjoining counties.

The annual mince pie walk was particularly well attended, a circular route starting at Broughton with the mince pie stop at the Boot Inn at Houghton. Our latest walk started at the snow-covered Stockbridge Down, which looked wonderful under clear skies and bright sunshine.

Future walks include Horton Tower (Dorset), Sherfield English, Owslebury, Ashurst, Valley Park and Hinton Ampner. As ever, non-members are welcome to join us on up to 3 walks to see if Rambling is for them. For anyone without transport, or simply to reduce car journeys, lifts can often be arranged direct from Romsey.

If you’ve made a new year’s resolution to get out in nature more, why not check out the walk programme and join them? You’ll find information and contact details on the website: ramblers.org.uk/go-walking/ramblers-groups/romsey-group
