Weymouth’s annual festival of music, light, and drumbeats is returning “bigger and better” for its fourth year. We Are Weymouth Business Improvement District (BID) has announced the return of the performing arts festival Dusk Til Dark back on Friday, September 27 and Saturday, September 28.
The event is free to attend as families will be able to watch Weymouth transform into a vibrant display of visual arts. On Friday, members of the public can catch the high energy live music performance Spark! which will feature the Whitley Bay-based drumming team Worldbeaters.
Dusk Til Dark is a unique arts festival in Weymouth, set to captivate audiences with its blend of light, art, and performance. As the name suggests, the festival takes place from dusk until dark, transforming Weymouth’s historic waterfront and surrounding areas into a mesmerising canvas of creativity. The event is a celebration of art in its many forms, bringing together local talent and international artists to create a memorable experience for all who attend. Last year thousands watched the festival as it travelled slowly from the town centre to harbour side.
Dusk Til Dark promises to build on its growing reputation as a highlight of Weymouth’s cultural calendar. The festival is known for its immersive installations and performances that play with light and shadow, offering a new perspective on familiar sights. Each year, the event adopts a different theme, encouraging artists to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of their creativity.
On Friday the event will feature The World Beaters while the following day will celebrate the world premiere of “Fireflies” on Weymouth esplanade. The festival’s setting is integral to its charm. As the sun sets, the area comes alive with glowing sculptures, light projections, and interactive displays that engage the senses. The festival’s organisers place a strong emphasis on creating works that resonate with the local environment, turning the town into a living gallery where visitors can explore at their own pace.
