The new Town Mayor for Wimborne Minster Town Council for the Civic Year 14 May 2024 to 13 May 2025 is Councillor Jeff Hart.
Jeff was elected to the Town Council in July 2022. He moved to Wimborne Minster from London in 1987 to take advantage of the excellent schools and was appointed as a school inspector for Dorset County Council. Jeff is married, has three children, and resides on New Borough Road. He enjoys living in Wimborne Minster and is very active in the community. Jeff is the Chair of Wimborne Community Theatre and has participated in their productions for over twenty years.
Additionally, he is the Chair of Governors at a local secondary school and has a strong interest in the local schools in Wimborne Minster.
During the year Jeff will be raising money for two charities:
1. Planet Wimborne
Planet Wimborne CIC is a community of local people who are concerned about the climate and ecological crisis facing us today. We are an inclusive, enabling group that welcomes all individuals
and organi-sations who share this concern, all of whom have an equal voice. Bringing together local environmental initiatives and through a process of collaboration and networking, Planet Wimborne aims to encourage more sustainable lifestyles across Wimborne and the local area.
Together, we seek to positively inspire, educate, campaign and raise awareness of environmental and ecological issues, helping to conserve and protect our planet for generations to come.
2. Friends of Victoria Hospital
The object of the Friends is to “support patients of the hospital and others in the community who are in need of health care as may be provided by the hospital, and generally to support the work of the hospital”.
All our activities support the hospital’s work in the advancement of health and the relief of those in need because of ill-health. The hospital provides a service of care which is available equally to all members of the local community. This demonstrates the public benefit of the charity.
The Deputy Mayor for Wimborne Minster Town Council for the Civic Year 14 May 2024 to 13 May 2025 is Councillor Simon Wheeler. Simon lives in Corfe Mullen and runs Wimborne’s Town Band “The Quarterjacks”, following in the footsteps of his Great Grandfather.
