The benefits of singing on men’s physical and mental health are unquestioned. Singing releases feel-good hormones, strengthens the reparatory system and reduces stress.
Why not start the New Year with a new Project to improve your physical and mental health whist at the same time raising money for Prostate Cancer UK. You can do both by signing up for Men: Raise Your Voice!
Working over nine weeks towards a fantastic live performance at St Peter’s Church in Parkstone in March, you’ll learn to sing, meet new people, challenge yourself, perform live on stage AND raise money for a very important charity – what’s not to like?
You don’t have to read music and previous singing is not necessary, just a willingness to step outside your comfort zone, get stuck in and give it a go. Everyone will be in the same boat, and it’s all about the journey!
Steve joined the choir after a similar project several years ago. He writes: “I never really knew if I could sing – but when my wife presented with me with a flyer inviting men to sign up for a short course with Bournemouth Male Voice Choir it seemed like an opportunity, especially as it provided a novel way of raising money for the prostate cancer charity.
“I have never regretted that decision or my wife’s insistence that I ‘give it a go’.
“After just a couple of sessions my nerves vanished and I found it challenging, exciting, immensely rewarding and great fun. I even looked forward to the final concert in front of friends and family.”
Nine weeks – five songs – one live performance!
Give it a go!
