Fordingbridge Nature Reserve Discovery and Consultation

On 10 October, Fordingbridge Greener Living opened the recently acquired woodland in the centre of the town for people to come and walk around and discover ideas for community use, wellbeing and learning. Almost 80 people took up the offer and were welcomed by volunteers from the woodland group on a sunny, warm autumn day, showing off the woodland at its best!

A survey has been launched to find out more about ideas and expectations for the woodland as a community asset. Many responses were collected on the day, and it is hoped that many more will be completed. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust came along to support the initiative, and its presence was much appreciated. Volunteers provided snacks and refreshments, which encouraged visitors to stay and chat.

Several people expressed interest in volunteering, and the team of volunteers is expanding – very important for the future work to manage the ecology and habitat improvements on the site.
