Mayors Message – September 2025

Welcome to September. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and a chance to get out and about to enjoy all the fantastic things that our town has to offer. Weymouth really comes into its own during this time of year, and it’s easy to see why so many visitors also flock to our beautiful seaside town.

It has been a busy time for events with Weymouth Town Council’s summer season of fireworks concluding with a dazzling display on bank holiday Monday. After five weeks of spectacular displays enjoyed by huge crowds that lined the seafront and gathered on the beach, I was delighted to attend and do the countdowns.

We might have moved into autumn, but Weymouth still has much to offer. September sees the return of several high-profile events, starting with the return of Weymouth Water Fest on Sunday, 7th September, which made its debut last year. This event is aimed at residents who want to try out different water sports in a fun and relaxed environment. It’s free and we will also have live music, a beach sauna, and lots of other activities on the beach to keep children and young people entertained, as well as the water sport taster sessions.

Ironman 70.3 Weymouth returns on Sunday, 14th September, so give the competitors a cheer as they compete across swimming, cycling, and running events.

Dusk ‘Til Dark is in Weymouth on Friday 19th September and Saturday, 20th September from 7pm to 9pm, starting at the town bridge and ending on Weymouth Beach. See Weymouth come alive with hundreds of silk flags, local dance groups, and international dance artists.

September is also when the full range of committees start again, with Full Council taking place on Wednesday, 3rd September. Meetings are open to the public to attend, ask a question, or watch via the livestream to Weymouth Town Council’s YouTube channel, which you can also subscribe to.

See you in October!
