‘Hat’s It!’ • Millstream Theatre’s New Cabaret Fundraiser at Museum of East Dorset, Wimborne

Millstream, Dorset’s celebrated theatre company of learning disabled and autistic actors, is about to let the stars in their heart shine brightly when they perform a new original show, ‘Hats It!’ at their base, the Museum of East Dorset (MED), in early August.

Their last show, ‘In Harmony’, toured to Dorchester Arts Centre, winning praise for its “tremendous humour and sheer joy”. Since then, Millstream has been chosen by the Mayor of Wimborne, Jeff Hart, as one of his two charities for the year.

Co-Artistic Director, Tony Horitz, promises another high-quality entertainment, and some serious stories that give unique insights into the lives of the performers. Tony Horitz, said: “Millstream aims to celebrate inclusivity and diversity, using the arts to enable people who are often marginalised to find their voice and entertain the community at large”.

To achieve this, they’ve been working with Tony and professional theatre artists, co-director Tam Gilbert, and actor Michele O’Brien, to create visually striking and highly original drama, dance, movement, and poetry.

Millstream member, Josh Ward, said: “Millstream means to me freedom to express myself in a kind and safe environment, and it allows me to forget my worries for a couple of hours.  It is truly awesome and I love being part of it.” Tam Gilbert said: “ We really hope you’ll want to come and support this unique Dorset theatre company. There’s something for everybody. We’ll also have a raffle and bar, so we can promise a great evening!”
