Swanage Lifeboat Week 2025 starts on Saturday, 9th August and runs until Sunday, 17th August.
There are events every day, with the week culminating at Prince Albert Gardens where the volunteers run a bar and BBQ alongside live music, the popular Raft Race to rescue a damsel on Friday evening, and the Build a Boat competition and lifeboat fayre on Saturday.
There are also lots of chances to watch the lifeboats launch during the week, including on the open day on Saturday 9th, for the Sailing Race on Thursday 14th, for the Raft Race to rescue a damsel on Friday 15th, and for the Build a Boat race on Saturday 16th, unless of course we have launched for a rescue.
Please come and support us if you can, and for full details of our events, please visit our social media pages @swanagelifeboat.
Whilst our volunteers have been busy planning for lifeboat week, the pagers have been sounding regularly with six callouts in June, and a busy start to July. Rescues have included a search for a missing person, two broken-down motorboats, a report of a dinghy with no one on board, a medical evacuation, and a broken-down jet ski drifting into the race at Peveril Ledges.
During the busiest few months of the year, Swanage is supported by RNLI lifeguards who monitor a designated swimming area. The lifeguards are on duty from 10 am to 6 pm and are on hand to provide lifesaving guidance every day to ensure everyone can enjoy the beach safely.
