Seven-piece Franco-Irish band Celtic Social Club are next up at Somborne Sessions- top-quality live music at value-for-money prices in King’s Somborne Village Hall.
Celebrating well over a decade in the business, band founder Manu Masko began with one wild idea: to reinvent Celtic music by crashing it head-on with rock, reggae, hip-hop and pop. Since it was first formed in 2013, the band has recorded an amazing seven albums (four studio and three live), played across continents on countless stages, and performed at festivals including Shrewsbury Folk Festival and Fairport’s Cropredy Convention.
Celtic Social Club comprises Taylor Byrne (vocals and guitar), Richard Puard (bass), Pierre Stephan (fiddle), Mathieu Pequeriau (harmonica), Manu Masko (drummer and band founder), Goulven Hamel (guitars) and Celine Rivaux (violin). Imagine those voices and instruments coming together in a burst of contemporary musical energy flavoured with Celtic tradition, and you have an idea of the sound and spirit of a band described as ‘a clever mix reminiscent of a supergroup containing members of The Dubliners, The Pogues and The Clash’ (Rolling Stone).
This is going to be one musical night to be remembered!
