Well, this was the question faced by John Berry from Micheldever, whose wife Pat is part of a local amateur drama group called Micheldever Variety Group (MVG).
The answer, of course, is to approach the well-known Winchester charity that owns and runs old vintage buses – the Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB)!
A quick phone call to FoKAB Chairman James Freeman followed. Two ladies, said John, would be doing a short sketch sitting on a bus. Did the bus enthusiasts have a suitable double seat? A positive response saw John and Pat hot-footing it to FoKAB’s main base, near Romsey, where they found a selection of forgotten bus seats to choose from in the bus charity’s store.
A suitable seat was quickly identified but, like most bus seats, it only had one leg, because one side of the seat is usually anchored to the side of the bus. “No problem,” says John. “I can sort that out!” Within a couple of hours he had done the job, and the seat was ready for its opportunity to shine…!
