Sports and Active Leisure Forum to Launch New Website and Directory at July Meeting

The Wimborne Sports and Active Leisure Forum will officially launch its new website at its next meeting on Thursday 9 July 2026 at Wimborne Town Football Club.

The meeting will begin at 7.00 pm, with refreshments and networking from 6.30 pm.

A key feature of the new website is a comprehensive directory of sports and active leisure organisations across the Wimborne area. The directory already includes details of 30 clubs and organisations, helping residents to discover opportunities to get active, take part in sport, and connect with local groups.

The launch will be attended by Vikki Slade MP, who will join Forum members and local organisations to mark this important milestone.

The meeting is open not only to existing Forum members but also to sports clubs, leisure organisations, businesses and community groups who would like to learn more about the Forum and explore opportunities to be included in the growing directory.

The Forum was established as part of Wimborne Town of Culture and aims to:

  • Be a collective voice for local sport and leisure organisations
  • Promote participation and health-enhancing behaviours for all ages
  • Embed sport and leisure as an integral part of Wimborne’s Culture

Following the success of the Festival of Sport held in April, the meeting will also provide an opportunity for attendees to discuss future priorities and help shape the next phase of the Forum’s development. Feedback from local organisations and stakeholders will play an important role in determining how the Forum can continue to support sport, physical activity and community wellbeing across the area.

Bill Jaggs, Acting Chair of the Forum said:

“The launch of the website activewimborne.org.uk is an important step in helping residents find out about the fantastic range of sporting and active leisure opportunities available in the Wimborne area. We are delighted to welcome Vikki Slade MP to the launch and look forward to hearing ideas from local organisations about how the Forum can build on the success of the Festival of Sport and continue to grow.”

Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to email the Forum on info@activewimborne.org.uk for further information OR JUST COME, we would love to meet you.
