Community Spirit Celebrated at Wimborne Town Council Parishioners’ Meeting

Wimborne Minster Town Council held its Annual Parishioners’ Meeting on Tuesday, 12 May at Allendale House, with residents, councillors and community organisations coming together for an informative and uplifting evening celebrating the work taking place across the town.

The well-attended meeting featured a series of short presentations from town councillors alongside a number of local organisations that have received community grant funding from the Town Council.

The evening highlighted the wide range of support and activities available within the community, with presentations from groups including Wimborne Community Garden, Planet Wimborne, Friends of Wimborne Library, The Reef, Home-Start Wessex and Wimborne Food Bank.

Representatives spoke passionately about the work their organisations undertake and the positive impact they continue to make on the lives of local residents.

The Town Mayor’s chosen charities for the civic year, Millstream Theatre and Dorset Community Action, also gave presentations during the evening, sharing details of their work and the support they provide across the community.

Speaking after the event, Cllr Jeff Hart said: “What a great evening. The community groups demonstrated their worth with many examples of the help provided. Without such groups, life would be much harder for many Wimborne residents. We have also beaten the target set for the Mayor’s charities with well over £10,000 raised through many events.”

The meeting provided an opportunity not only to reflect on the achievements of the past year, but also to recognise the dedication of volunteers, charities and community groups whose work continues to strengthen and support the local community.
