Creative Workshops at The Exchange, Sturminster Newton
Across February and March, Dorset charity Artsreach invites you to explore your creativity while connecting with others through The Craft Lab, a welcoming programme of hands-on craft workshops taking place at The Exchange, Sturminster Newton. The Craft Lab offers a chance for beginners not only to learn traditional and contemporary crafts but also to enjoy the social warmth of a shared creative space, meeting others with similar interests.
Each Craft Lab workshop is an invitation to experiment and learn new skills. Participants can try their hand at Dorset Button Making with Anna McDowell on Monday, 9th February, discovering traditional techniques while creating their own handcrafted buttons. Later, on 23rd February, Deborah Clarke will lead a Clay Tiles Workshop, where participants can design textured coasters inspired by the Dorset landscape, exchanging ideas, and sharing inspiration in a relaxed social space.
March brings more opportunities to combine creativity and connection. On Monday, 9th March, Caroline Buckman’s Lino Printing workshop encourages attendees to carve, ink, and print their own designs. The series concludes on 23rd March with Indian Block Printing led by Rachel Wilkinson, giving participants a chance to explore simple crafting using hand-carved blocks from Jaipur and cotton fabrics.
Supported by Dorset Community Foundation and The Britford Bridge Trust, The Craft Lab aims to celebrate the experience of creativity together. All workshops provide a warm, supportive environment where participants are encouraged to dress for mess, bring enthusiasm, and, where needed, a packed lunch. Spaces are limited, and advanced booking is essential. For more information and to reserve a place, visit www.artsreach.co.uk or contact The Exchange on 01258 475137.
