The late Summer Show of the Wimborne Gardening Club, on 30th August at the Allendale Centre, was very well attended, with good support from members and visitors. There were almost 150 entries across the different classes of Home Grown Vegetables, Fruit, Flowers, Cookery, Photography, Handicrafts, Floral Art, Junior Classes, and a fun class of Giant Vegetables. The prize- winners were presented with their cups as well as vouchers, kindly donated by Stewarts Garden Centre.
The cup winners were Bill Howarth (Fruit and Vegetables), Jane Green (Flowers), David Cobb (Photography and Flowers), Jo Stanley (Cookery), Annie Chambers (Floral Art), Sarah Cheney (Handicrafts), and Millie (Junior Classes).
The Plant Stall and the Raffle were well supported, and Donations at the door were very generous. Invaluable support was given by many club members with the set-up of the show, stewarding for the judges, manning the plant stall, the raffle and the welcome desk, as well as clearing up afterwards. Wilding Wimborne manned their information stand, with frequent visitors all afternoon. Thus a fun afternoon was enjoyed by all, with significant money raised towards gardening club funds, to help support our monthly programme of speakers.
