You may recall that at the end of May Clare Girling and Peter Griffin took part in a sponsored Skydive to raise funds for Family Matters in Weymouth. It was part of a fundraising effort by the Weymouth Vehicle Preservation Society. Together with a Christmas raffle, a cabaret evening by club members, and professional entertainers, Liz and Paul Cox, and the Dorset Tour, where over sixty classic cars were displayed on the esplanade, the Society raised an amazing £2000. At a recent club meeting the Mayor of Weymouth Cllr. Caroline Nicholson presented a cheque to Wendy Petite-Mange and Carol Penney from Family Matters. Wendy said that the funds would be used to purchase personal hygiene items, underwear, and help with the running costs of the charity. She continued by saying, “to raise such a magnificent sum, in these difficult financial times, is an amazing effort and will make a real difference to the lives of families and individuals in Weymouth who are struggling.” Peter Griffin, Chairman, W.V.P.S.
