Come along to this year’s Honey Show on Saturday 15th November at St Catherine’s Hill Community Hall. Entry is free and there will be lots to see, do, eat, and buy, with some new exciting classes added to this year’s Show. Beekeeping has become ever more popular in the UK, with lots of publicity around the decrease in the number of bees. Now is a great time to come and support your local Beekeeping Association and learn more about bees.

The Bournemouth and Dorset South Beekeepers’ Association has existed since 2008. Its members are a group of friendly people with a common interest in protecting bees and promoting beekeeping.

The Association Provides:

  • A body of expertise in beekeeping
  • A forum for discussion
  • Summer meetings at the Association’s Apiary
  • Winter meetings for talks & lectures
  • An Apiary for demonstrations and education
  • An annual Honey Show
  • An extensive library
  • BBKA beekeeping classes
  • Talks to other groups
  • A supply of honey for sale

Even if you’re not thinking of keeping bees yourself, you have probably read about the plight of the honeybee in the modern world, threatened by new pests and loss of habitat. Bees are key to pollinating plants and crops, and subsequent food production. The annual Honey Show is a great opportunity to meet your local beekeeping community and learn about the amazing world of bees. Come and find out more about the wonderful things they produce and the health properties of natural honey.
