The countdown is on – Purbeck Film Festival’s unmissable summer season is just around the corner, and this year it’s finishing in spectacular style.
In a delicious twist, Corfe Castle will glow orange for one night only as Paddington in Peru screens under the stars – celebrating all things marmalade and the return of everyone’s favourite bear on 23 August.
Festival Chair Andrea Etherington said: “This year’s Summer Screenings bring together an incredible mix of films, stunning locations, and the community spirit that makes the Purbeck Film Festival so special. Whether you’re rediscovering a beloved classic or experiencing a new favourite for the first time, there’s something truly magical about watching a film under the stars. And we can’t wait to see Corfe Castle bathed in an orange glow for Paddington’s big night!”
The full summer line-up is now confirmed with two final magical screenings at Blue Pool, closing the festival weekend of 5–6 September:
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy – romantic comedy bliss in a dreamy setting.
Moulin Rouge! – a bold, beautiful finale to the season.
Other highlights include:
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets at Corfe Castle, with the return of the “Sunset Shuttle” via Swanage Railway.
Wicked by the pool at Knoll House – an enchanting musical in an equally magical setting.
A Complete Unknown at Carey’s Secret Garden – a soulful journey in a secret paradise.
Fresh off its award as Best Film Festival 2024/25, the Festival is gearing up for its biggest and most magical summer yet.
