At the May meeting of the Wimborne Gardening Club, those present enjoyed an illustrated talk by Mary van Coller on ‘Downstream Dorset, River Tales and Local History’, a colourful journey of discovery through the beautiful County of Dorset. There was also a successful Plant Swap.
A week after the Meeting, nearly 40 members enjoyed a Coach Trip to Exbury Gardens. The weather was just perfect, and in addition to walking around the Gardens, there was the opportunity of joining one of two different tours. The first of which included the History of Exbury and anecdotes of the Rothschild’s involvement. The second tour was ideal for horticulturists as it included a detailed tour of selected areas of the gardens, picking out plants of note.
Next up is the June Monthly meeting, which, as usual, will be held in the St. Catherine’s Church Hall at Rodways Corner (Lewens Lane) on Monday 2nd June at 7.30 pm. The Speaker will be Alex Brenton, who will be sharing his insights and horticultural experience on the theme of Myths & Misunderstandings – back to common sense in the garden. All are welcome to attend.
A reminder that the late Summer Show will be held on Saturday, 30th August in the Allendale Center, so keep the date free to come along and show what you have been growing this year.
