Christchurch River Pageant 2025

A spectacular new fun charity event entertaining visitors to Dorset this year – a traditional river pageant on the River Stour in Christchurch this summer.

The aim is to raise money for Hengistbury Head Outdoors, the Bourne Water Dragons, and the Pink Champagne Breast Cancer Charities.

With support from the local Chamber of Trade, Town Council and BID team, local Rotary Clubs are joining forces to launch an exciting new fundraising event on Saturday 16th August. The colourful pageant will take place from Tuckton Bridge to Christchurch Town Quay starting at 12 noon as part of the Christchurch Carnival weekend, giving the public an opportunity to watch a water borne parade from either side of the river.

The parade will feature decorative floats, boats and other watercraft, including novelty rafts, stand up paddleboards, canoes and kayaks and ends with the two local dragon boat teams racing down the river Stour.

Local community groups, including Sea Cadets, Sea Scouts, paddleboarders, kayakers and canoe clubs will be taking part, and any other clubs, organisations, businesses and private boat owners are invited to join the parade.

Organiser, Rotarian Gerry Clarke said: “We are inviting local businesses to get behind this innovative new project and help raise money for two local Dragon Boat Cancer Charities and the Hengistbury Head Outdoor Education Centre. Whether you can sponsor the event, provide a prize, or help in any other way, we would love to hear from you.”
