The Weymouth Pavilion!

We are so lucky to have our very own theatre here in Weymouth. Saved from extinction (a little like our dinosaurs), in 2013, after a successful bid by Phil Say, we are able to watch a huge variety of live shows throughout the whole year, as well as attend community activities. Now housing a cinema too, following the closure of the town centre Odeon, it really is here for us to use and enjoy. There is a café, The Ritz, overlooking the sea and beach downstairs, and a Piano Bar upstairs for meals and pre-show dinners, for anyone to enjoy. Stephen and I have had several good breakfasts watching the world go by from its delightful windows. It is easy to underestimate where we live. Weymouth is a beautiful seaside town.

Stephen and I have also had the pleasure of seeing three live shows recently. A Carpenters Tribute, the comedian Ed Byrne, and Supreme Queen, again a tribute band. We have thoroughly enjoyed all of these. It is such a luxury to sit back and listen, surrounded by friendly local people all wanting to enjoy the Show. For the Queen tribute, we were literally dancing at our seats and in the aisles. The atmosphere was fantastic. The band clearly appreciated our support. The smiles on everyone’s faces were captivating. Clapping, singing, swinging those hips – what more can you ask for on a Saturday night? There is nothing better than letting one’s hair down and singing away the evening, blowing away any woes and worries. Equally, the Carpenters Tribute was wonderful. I have always loved Karen Carpenter’s voice, and this was a really good duplication of those soft, dulcet tones. Gorgeous. The comedy Show gave us food for thought as well as a good laugh. Good job!

So, let’s use the Pavilion to get us out, mix with others, and have a sing-song or a chuckle, depending on the show you choose to see. Take a few friends, have a drink at the bar, and do some socialising. It is food for the soul. I thoroughly recommend it. See you at the Pavilion Weymouth!
