Featuring at the Music at HeART concert at the White Hart Hotel in Andover on Thursday 15 May will be DAVID LAST from Ipswich in Suffolk.
David’s interest in music became evident at a very early age. Piano lessons began at the age of seven, and he worked his way through the Royal School of Music Associated Board’s examinations, which he completed by passing Grade 8 with distinction. He was subsequently auditioned, along with about fifty other pupils, and chosen to take part in a concert held at the local town hall, where his performance on the Steinway grand piano was received with great enthusiasm.
His interest in the electronic keyboard, on which he was self-taught, soon followed, and he later entered the Cinema Organ Society’s competition for young theatre organists, which was held annually at the Electronic and Pipe Organ Convention. His efforts were rewarded when he won the Society’s ‘Young Theatre Organist of the Year’ trophy, following which he was offered tuition at the Cinema Organ Society’s 4-manual Wurlitzer installed at the South Bank University in London.
David’s concert programme is always varied and consists of completely different music from that of his dance engagements. His reputation as an accompanist for sequence and modern ballroom dancing, together with his concert work, is such that his travels average 50,000 miles a year playing for clubs all over the country. He has also produced around sixty albums and has been awarded a gold disc by his recording company.
The concert commences at 7.30 p.m. (with the Concert Room opening at 7 p.m.) and tickets at £10.00 are available at the door. For more information about David, visit:
