Another successful monthly meeting of the Wimborne Gardening Club was how Honorary Treasurer Anthony Oliver described the February Meeting. Held in the St Catherine’s Church Hall with over 50 members present the speaker was Dan Benson from Brothers Farm Flowers at Stapehill who gave an illustrated talk on Nurturing the Flower Field and the UK’s oldest Blueberry Plantation.
Three new members enrolled at the meeting bringing the membership for the club which is still less than two years to almost 70. New members are welcome. The annual membership is £12 a year. The Club meets monthly and also arranges two shows, the next being the Spring Show on Saturday 29th March. The late Summer Show will take place on Saturday 30th August.
The March meeting will be held on Monday the 3rd at St Catherine’s Church Hall, Lewens Lane (Rodways Corner) Wimborne, and commences at 7.30pm. The Speaker will be Rob Jones of the Garden Design Company and he will speak on Inspirational Garden Design and the Greenfingers Charity. Rob studied garden design and horticulture, from 1991-1992 at Pershore College of Horticulture, following which he created an in-house Garden Design and Build Company for Booker Garden Centre, near Marlow. He now runs The Garden Design Company Ltd full time using his expertise to build inspirational gardens for clients across southern England. He is also involved with Greenfingers Charity, building gardens for children’s hospices. All are welcome.
Following the March Meeting, it is full-on for the Club with the organisation of its Spring Show which will be held in the Allendale Centre on Saturday 29th March. Schedules for the Show are available in various venues around Town and from the club’s website: wimbornegardeningclub.co.uk All are encouraged to enter whether you are a novice gardener or a seasoned pro.
