Steptoe & Son: Timeless Comedy Live Tour

We’re embarking on an international tour, with over 40 performances across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland. We’re performing four original classic episodes just as they were from when they were first broadcast on television.

So who are Steptoe & Son? Well, they’re father and son. Albert is a dirty, coarse old man who doesn’t like having a wash, and Harold is pretentious and a bit pompous and has aspirations better than that of a rag and bone man. Harold has his dreams and Albert likes to quash these dreams. They live together, they work together, they care about each other but they hate each other. Albert also thwarts any chance of a relationship for Harold because he’s scared he’ll move away and be on his own.

I’m a massive lover of classic comedy and I think it’s nice to introduce the older material to a newer audience, as these kinds of shows are timeless and will always be funny, but it’s also nice for the older generations to revisit memories and take a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

My company donates a lot of money to charity with our performances, because there are some people that can’t come along for whatever reason and they can benefit in another way instead. Everybody wins really, and the more people that buy tickets, the more money we can donate. We donate to domestic abuse charities, animal rescue, homelessness prevention, cancer support, lifeboats, air ambulance, veterans, mental health charities – you name it, we’ve probably covered it. I like to pick a charity that’s local to the venue we’re performing at, so hopefully it means something extra special for people in that community. So far I’d say we’ve managed to donate over £15000. For our Wimborne show on March 7th, our chosen charity is MS Centre Dorset.

The BBC rate the show as PG, so you can bring your kids along too if they’re over age 12 and you think they’ll enjoy it. If you want to come and see Steptoe & Son – LIVE!, visit steptoeandsontour.co.uk or go through the Tivoli Theatre website/box office directly. Tickets are just £20.
