Wimborne Minster Town Council, The Royal British Legion (Wimborne Branch), and The Minster marked Remembrance Sunday on the 10th November 2024 with a full parade, church service, wreath laying to pay respects to the fallen, and to remember the sacrifices of those from all nations who fought and died.
The service was conducted by The Rector of Wimborne Minster, The Reverend Canon Andrew J W Rowland, and assisted by other clergy of the Town. The address was given by The Reverend William French, Chaplain of Wimborne Royal British Legion.
Before the service, the parade commenced from the Royal British Legion on West Borough and finished at The Minster for the service at 3:00 PM.
After the main Remembrance Service, individuals and organisations gathered at the War Memorial on Minster Green and were invited to lay wreaths remembering all the fallen of past and current wars. This was followed by a two-minute silence. The bugle and bagpipes were played.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us this afternoon. Your presence and support helped us honour and remember those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. Together, we stood as a community in a moving tribute to those who gave so much.
Gary Mason, Wimborne Town Council
