Although the weather was slightly on the dull side, it kept dry for the fourth successive year for the Grand Charities Fair organised by Wimborne in Bloom and held last Saturday, 9th November, at the Allendale Community Centre in Wimborne. Numbers of visitors to the Fair were well down on previous years, but it was also reported that the Town was much quieter than normal for a Saturday.
17 Charities and Organisations, manning 23 tables, took part in the Fair, which raised over £2,500 for the various causes they represented. Stalls included those raising money for The Children’s Society, Waggy Tails Rescue, Wimborne Community Garden, and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. Wimborne in Bloom had a successful table with four Hampers as prizes. Entrance was free, courtesy of Wimborne in Bloom, but the public generously donated over £140 on the door.
Richard Nunn, Chairman of Wimborne in Bloom, and on behalf of the Committee, thanked everyone who participated in the Fair and all who visited, as once again this shows the support for Wimborne in Bloom, which at the end of November celebrates its 32nd Anniversary.
Wimborne in Bloom will be showing their flag again at the Save the Children Parade through Wimborne on Saturday 14th December. Then the first event of the New Year will be the Annual Wine and Wisdom Fun Quiz Evening, which will take place on Friday 7th March 2025 in the Allendale Centre when teams of six will pit their wits against each other to try and win the coveted Eco-Composting Shield.
