Museum Volunteers up for an award!
Paul Willis, our Museum Manager, has nominated his committed team for a well-deserved recognition award through the Volunteer Centre Dorset, and we’re excited to share that they’ve been shortlisted!
This is a great acknowledgment of the hard work and dedication they’ve shown in running the museum and engaging with our community.
On 1 November, a group from the team will make their way to Dorchester for the award ceremony, where they’ll find out if they’ve secured the win.
We’re all rooting for them and wishing them the best of luck — they’ve truly earned this chance to be celebrated for their efforts!
Wareham Railway Crossing: A Path to Progress
Wareham Town Council is actively championing the cause to keep the railway crossing open for pedestrians and cyclists, ensuring that this vital connection remains accessible for all. In an effort to enhance safety and convenience, the Council is also pushing for the automation of the crossing.
Letters have been dispatched to Network Rail and the Secretary of State for Transport, emphasising the community’s voice in this matter.
The Town Council stands firm in its commitment to ensure that the concerns of Wareham residents are not only heard but acted upon, paving the way for a safer, more connected future.
Street Lighting: A Brighter Future for Wareham
Earlier this year, Dorset Council set its sights on upgrading the streetlights in Wareham, starting with North Street.
However, contractors were halted by the Town Council, as the new lights clashed with the cherished Conservation Area requirements.
Recognising the importance of preserving the town’s unique character while embracing energy efficiency, ongoing discussions are taking place with Dorset Council.
Together, they aim to identify suitable replacements that strike the perfect balance between modern needs and the timeless charm of Wareham.
Stay tuned as the Town Council works diligently to illuminate our streets without compromising our heritage!
