Bournemouth Town Centre BID has embarked on a series of actions to enhance the look and feel of the town centre in preparation for summer.
The end of May will see a host of activities taking place, from installing flowering hanging baskets, litter picking to graffiti removal.
Key to this campaign will see new flowering baskets being installed around the centre adding new colour and life to key shopping and leisure areas. These new additions to the town will bring beauty and will enhance the look of the town. The baskets are funded by Bournemouth Town Centre BID, following the withdrawal of funding by BCP Council.
Martin Davies, Chair of Bournemouth Town Centre BID, said:
“Making Bournemouth Town Centre an even more inviting place to be is a top priority for us, and this clean-up project will help us do just that. By tackling issues like graffiti and litter, and adding some colourful flowers, we can enhance the look and feel of the town centre ready for a busy and hopefully sunny summer season.”
The project also heralds the arrival of the Bournemouth Town Centre BID’s new rapid response cleaner. Regi, who is a BID team member, will be on call to businesses in the centre to help them clear up any mess around their premises, as well as carrying out general cleaning and litter picking duties over and above those carried out by the local authority.
More recently volunteers from Bournemouth businesses embarked on a two-hour litter pick for The Big Bournemouth Clean Up, rescheduled from March due to bad weather.
This saw companies such as Turtle Bay (who hosted the event with breakfast and drinks) and Atlas (who also kindly supported the event and provided equipment), as well as companies such as McDonalds, Nationwide and HSBC take part along with volunteers who collected over 40 bags full of rubbish in total.
The project encompasses two days of graffiti removal from business premises across the town centre – this is something that Bournemouth Town Centre BID does once a month, each time tackling up to 35 patches.
All these activities form part of the Bournemouth Town Centre BID’s strategy to help make the town centre more welcoming.
