Wessex Cancer Support needs daredevils to hot foot it to Hurn Event Field in Bournemouth on Thursday 20 June and conquer the coals at its summer solstice firewalk to raise money for local people affected by cancer.

Blaze Firewalking, one of the UK’s leading firewalk companies will start the night with an Overcoming Fear seminar led by inspirational speaker, Karen Sterling, before participants are led over hot coals heated to over 1000°F at 9.50pm – the time of the 2024 summer solstice.

There will also be the opportunity to enjoy games, music, food and drink, and camp under the stars.

Mike Andrews, who has volunteered with the charity for more than 30 years and took part in the 2023 firewalk, said:

“Through its four cancer support centres, including Bournemouth, I see first-hand the many ways Wessex Cancer Support is there for local people affected by cancer. The charity relies on donations and people signing up for events like this to continue its vital work. When I was given the opportunity to try firewalking last year I leapt at the chance and would urge anyone looking for a challenge to give it a go. You won’t regret it!”

Registration is £25, with discounts for teams of five and ten. The charity is asking participants to raise a minimum sponsorship of £100 per person. To find out more and book, visit
