The latest news from all our areas

Swarm season is nearly upon us. If you see a swarm of honey bees in the Ringwood/St Leonards/Ferndown areas, please call Ian Warmer on 07803 136730.

Swarming is a perfectly normal occurrence, a bit like us moving house! Bees that have swarmed are very unlikely to sting, so there is no need to be afraid. However, it is important that they are safely re-homed, otherwise they could die.

A swarm of honey bees consists of many thousands of bees, often in a cluster shaped like a rugby ball which can be found hanging off a tree or fence.

Please check out our website at www.honeybyian.com to see some of the swarms we managed to collect last year and safely re-home.

Anything outside these areas, please contact the BBKA (British Beekeepers Association) at bbka.org.uk, go to the swarm section and enter your postcode. This will bring up the closest swarm collector who can help you.
